What is coaching?

Is there something in your life that you would like to change? Are you finding it difficult to make the changes you know you need to make? Or perhaps you are not clear about what to change or where to start? Maybe a life coach can help you identify the problem and move forward.

What does a life coach do?

A life coach helps you to understand where you are in your life today, work out what changes you want to make, and then begin to make those changes.

As your life coach my mission is to help you create the life you want and will love, especially when you are stuck and finding it difficult to move forward. I will do this by asking you questions and encouraging you to examine your values and beliefs to see what is really motivating you. As a life coach I will motivate you, guide you, support you and hold you accountable. But I will never tell what you to do or do it for you. The responsibility is yours, you find your own solutions, you are accountable for your own actions and you get to set your own tasks that will support you in making the changes you need in order to achieve your goals.

Why do I need a life coach?

If I have to come up with my own solutions and make my own changes then why do I need a life coach? Why can't I do it myself? This is a valid question and the the truth is some people can and do make changes without needing a coach. But there are a several reasons why you may need a coach.

  • A coach may help you to consider options or ideas that you might not have thought
     
    about.

  • A coach uses questioning techniques that help you identify the real issues and
     
    blocks that are holding you back.

  • A coach is there to support and motivate you when it is all getting too hard and you
     
    feel like giving up.

  • Lastly, and most importantly, making changes often requires doing something outside
     
    of your comfort zone. This can be scary and there is some element of risk taking
     
    involved. Fear and doubt can begin to creep in and before you know it, you will be
     
    back repeating the same patterns that you wanted to change. This is where a coach
     
    can help you to see what might be holding you back from making the change you
     
    want to make in your life.
